Excellent Reference Books

I have had the pleasure of being a technical editor for two large American companies that gives me the cool job of checking for accuracy before a technical book is published within the hours they have assigned me.

When investing in a book regarding any of the XML technologies, books certainly can be costly and who really wants to invest in a book where the information is not accurate and perhaps the code is not in working order or the author kind of sucks. I certainly don't.

I have a bunch of books that I have read from beginning to end. I don't like reading any other kind of book, other than technical books. However, I do love a book called "The Code Book" which is very cool. I love technical books and I like adding to the knowledge I already have. I am a bit of strange chic. I also don't like romance movies either (I love anything quite violent. like Scarface, Running Scared, Resident Evil, etc.), actually I just don't generally enjoy too many girly type movies and books. I am often travelling on planes going from one country to another and have lots of time on my hands when I am on the plane (I don't sleep well). That's where I read many of my technical books. I especially love books by Thomas Erl and Steven Holzner. They are absolutely great books.

I have compiled a list of books that will help you in your understanding of XML Technologies. The first thing is to note that that in my list, there is a picture of the cover of the book as well as the information such as ISBN, author name, etc. for you. The second thing, is don't go and buy these books at full cost if you don't have to.

There is a great place to go where this site is based on XML Technologies, which is very cool, they have a mixture of Web Services and REST services and well I could go on forever and bore you, so just go over to the amazon site of your choosing (www.amazon.ca, www.amazon.com, etc.). Search for the title of the book you want, and then check if someone is selling it used. If your from the US, man, you get great prices used. If your Canadian, the Canadian Used book sellers, seem to be a bit greedy, go to the US site of amazon and pay the $5.00 shipping, but you will smile, as the book could cost you as low as 99 cents US. I mean that's cool. Dont' get suckered. Thomas Erl's books are hard to get used and they are fairly expensive new, however, check from time to time and if you can get one used, grab it.

These are some of the books I absolutely can't live without. Enjoy and make sure to add them to your library. Download this list and feel free to pass it on.
